Hannah Porter Occena, flute

St. Mary’s High School grad and Bismarck native Hannah Porter Occena returns to the stage with the BMSO for Neilson’s invigorating and energetic flute concerto. Hannah will also premiere a piece newly commissioned for her, based on the American tune, “Shenandoah,” composed by Joseph Kern. The orchestra will all feature the much-loved Beethoven Symphony No. 7.

PRE-CONCERT DISCUSSION

Join the guest artist and conductor Dr. Beverly Everett in the Conductor's Room at the Belle for a brief and informal discussion of the evening's program. You’ll hear a little background on the guest artist as well as the pieces and how they were selected. There is a time for questions. This is a fun and up-close way to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into selecting the music for our concerts!

Discussion goes from 7:00-7:20 p.m.
